Mike Wells

A 19-year veteran of Freediving and an SSI Freediving Instructor Trainer, Mike Wells has literally immersed himself in the oceans of the world over the last 25 years, exploring and engaging in adventures involving every sea creature imaginable.

Having competed in a multitude of international Freediving competitions, Mike has taken Freediving in Australia to a new level. Creating history and setting a world record in breath-hold diving by becoming the first person in the world to swim through Fishrock Cave (South West rocks) on a single breath, Mike has taken his monofin to 80 mtrs deep (263 ft); his long bladed stereo-fins to 68 mtrs deep (223 ft); has dived without fins (Free immersion) to 70 mtrs (213 ft), and currently holds the Australian National Freediving record in the discipline of Static Apnea by holding his breath for an astonishing 7.27 Mins.

"This is what I feel the ocean and Freediving is about, and why I really enjoy introducing others to the mysteries below the surface. The expressions on the face of a new Freediver swimming with other wild inhabitants of the ocean is an incredibly satisfying sight. The more people that appreciate the ocean, the more aware people will be if the ocean is being mistreated. This is paramount to the future of the oceans health .... and no other place can offer this much exhilaration."
