Grant W. Graves
Grant has been freediving since he was six and diving for over 28 years having completed over 5,600 dives. Growing up in Malibu the waters of Southern California were his playground. Grant has a BS degree in marine biology from Long Beach State.
He is a certified EMT and aDMT. He is a PADI Course Director; TDI, IANTD and DSAT Trimix Instructor/Trainer, Rebreather Instructor on the PRISM Topaz. He was one of the developers of the DSAT Tec Deep and Tec Trimix programs. He is a DAN Examiner. In addition, he is an Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer.
He is an USCG licensed captain. He is the training officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department Marine Company Dive Team.
He is owner of the production companies Scuba And Film Enterprises, LLC and Aquamentary. He is a Discovery Networks approved Director and Director of Photography. He has recently completed production of a multiply awarded freediving documentary exploring the hunt for world records entitled Sink Faze.
He is a prolific author and photographer with articles and photographs appearing in the major diving publications. He has pioneered the transformational economy approach to diving business and precision diving.
Grant is President of the United States Apnea Association, USAA, which fields the US Freediving Team. He is the North American Vice President of the International Association for the Development of Apnea, AIDA. He is an International Freediving Judge Instructor. www.usfreediving.org
He is the West Coast Coordinator for the Cambrian Foundation. He has participated in many of the foundation's activities including the NOAA USS Monitor Expeditions and the Akumal Cave Expeditions. www.Cambrianfoundation.org
Grant enjoys cave exploration. He is the Southern California Regional Safety Officer for the National Association for Cave Diving, as well as, a member of the Cave Rescue and Recovery Team. He is a member of the Explorer's Club of NYC.
