Greg Hodge
Greg first learnt to dive in 1980 while studying with the US Navy at Mare Island, California. After a long break he has returned to recreational and technical diving with renewed passion. An experienced open circuit trimix diver, Greg has recently converted to closed circuit diving with a Mk15.5 Rebreather.
His interests are wreck diving, wreck exploration and wreck photography, as well as decompression theory, strategies, practicalities and execution for dives to and beyond 100m.
Greg is a founding member of Southern Ocean Exploration, a group credited with a number of new deep wreck discoveries off the coast of Victorian and NSW. Greg was instrumental in the discoveries of TSS Kanowna, TSS Cumberland, SS Queensland, Don Diego, and the Brunette and the development of a comprehensive shipwreck location database for Victorian and NSW waters.
Greg is currently a Councillor for the Australasian Institute for Maritime Archaeology, Member of the Industry Advisory Committee for the National Maritime Safety Committee and has received awards from both The Heritage Council and the Victorian Government acknowledging his substantial contribution to the maritime heritage of Victoria.
