Shaping up to become one of the region's most dynamic and talked about diving events, OZTeK'11 - to be held at Australian Technology Park, Sydney, over the weekend of the 12th - 13th March 2011 - will again showcase the very best that the world of diving has to offer.
Featuring an exhibition crammed with national and international exhibitors representing every facet of diving - from advanced technologies, equipment and training through to exotic travel opportunities - the two-day spectacular also provides an opportunity to meet, listen to, and learn from some of modern diving's most acclaimed individuals; many of whom have pushed the diving envelope just that little bit further in their scientific quest to better understand the planet's oceans and water systems, and whose achievements have earned for them membership in The Explorers Club.
Founded in New York in 1904, The Explorers Club has, for more than a century, played a leading role in the scientific exploration of land, sea, air and space. Serving as a unifying force for explorers and scientists worldwide, its members have logged an impressive series of 'firsts', including: the first to reach the North Pole; the first to reach the South Pole; the first to conquer Mount Everest; the first to reach the deepest point of the ocean depths; and the first to set foot upon the moon.
To be staged in Australian Technology Park's main theatre on the evening of Saturday 12th March 2011, OZTeK and the Australia New Zealand Chapter of the Explorers Club (ANZEC) will - on Saturday 12th March - present an evening in the company of some of the world's most accomplished underwater explorers; members of The Explorers Club whose adventures and achievements have helped push back the boundaries of knowledge.
Keeping alive the traits of vision, courage and tenacity that make diving exploration among the most compelling and relevant of high-risk enterprises, the evening promises a rare opportunity to meet, listen to - and be enthralled by - divers whose names may still be little known by the non-diving public, but whose exploits have become synonymous with adventure and excitement.
While full details of the evening's programme will not be finalised until early 2011, speakers and presenters at the 'Explorers Evening' - a ticketed event open to all - already include: Kevin Denlay, Peter Fields, Jarrod Jablonski, Casey McKinlay, Jeff Maynard, and Steve Trewavas.
