Mike began diving in New Zealand in the early 1980s at age 19. He became a PADI Divemaster, then an instructor in 1998, before opening a dive centre in 1999. While owning the dive centre Mike became passionate about wreck diving and travel to exotic dive locations. Wreck diving also fired an interest in technical diving and photography. He has dived and photographed wrecks from the Red Sea, through the Pacific to the Marlborough Sounds of NZ.

Mike lives in Papamoa, New Zealand where he works as an independent project manager and consultant to the energy industry and a Health & Safety consultant and auditor to the dive industry. Mike has electrical trade and technical qualifications, PADI Staff Instructor qualification and an MBA from Waikato University.
